Police arrested a 43-year-old man after he allegedly threatened a traffic enforcer with a firearm during a roadside confrontation in Pasay City.
According to Pasay City Police Chief Col. Joselito De Sesto, the suspect, identified as “Jomar,” was apprehended by personnel of Substation 3 at the corner of Zamora Street and EDSA.
The incident stemmed from a traffic counterflow violation after the suspect, who was driving a maroon Toyota Innova, was flagged down by the enforcer.
Authorities said the suspect got out of his vehicle and engaged in an altercation with the traffic enforcer.
During the confrontation, he reportedly took out a black belt bag, drew a firearm, and pointed it at the enforcer.
Fearing for his life, the enforcer immediately sought police assistance, which led to the suspect’s arrest.
Recovered from the suspect were a Glock 45 Gen 4 pistol, one magazine, and six rounds of ammunition.
Further verification revealed that the suspect’s Permit to Carry Firearm Outside of Residence (PTCFOR) had already expired.
The suspect is currently detained at the police custodial facility and is facing charges for violations of Article 155 (Alarms and Scandals) of the Revised Penal Code and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
