SANTA CRUZ, Laguna – The provincial government distributed free vegetables worth P600,000 during the Anilag or Ani ng Laguna Festival here on Friday, March 20.
About 4,000 residents availed themselves of the project as part of the week-long event.
These vegetables were purchased from 40 farmers’ associations in the province and they were paid 15,000 each for their produce.
Buyers were provided an eco-bag or “bayong” and authorities secured the activity.
Gov. Sol Aragones said the project highlights the agriculture yields of farmers. This was the second time it was conducted under the Aragones administration in coordination with the Department of Agriculture which honored outstanding farmers in the province.
Singers Chard Yumul and Nonoy Zuniga serenaded hundreds of senior citizens during the Konsyerto para sa Senior Citizens which was part of the Anilag Festival on Thursday, March 19.
The concert highlighted Laguna’s dedication to honor the contributions of senior citizens with a day of enjoyment, recognition, and community spirit.
Meanwhile, fashion designers and models from this province competed at the Designer’s Competition and Mayora’s Fashion Show here on Thursday featuring clothes made from textiles from Lumban.
Judges were Marina Benipayo, Peter Gagula, Patrick Lazol, Renee Salud, and Michael Leyva.
Aragones said that the goal of the event is to showcase the beauty of Lumban’s textiles.
