inDrive cuts commission to 1%, gives out ₱2.7 million in fuel vouchers
Ride-hailing firm inDrive is slashing its commission fees to as low as one percent and distributing ₱2.7 million in fuel vouchers to support drivers struggling with volatile energy prices.
In a statement, inDrive said it has introduced “purple zones,” where drivers can pick up passengers in areas with high booking demand at a commission rate of one percent.
The company already offers one of the lowest commission fees in the industry, with its standard 10 percent rate. By offering rates as low as one percent, it said this would allow drivers to retain more of their earnings per trip.
To complement the government’s ₱5,000 cash relief assistance for transport network vehicle service (TNVS) drivers, inDrive said it will roll out a fuel voucher program worth ₱2.7 million for active drivers on its platform.
“This initiative aims to ease the financial strain of rising fuel costs, enabling drivers to continue operating without compromising their earnings or passing additional costs on to passengers,” it said.
On top of this, inDrive said it is working on expanding its partnerships with fuel companies to provide more accessible and cost-saving solutions for its drivers.
For one, the company is renewing its partnership with SeaOil to give drivers access to discounts and additional perks for their fuel and other vehicle needs.
inDrive Philippines Country Manager Sofia Guinto said these measures ensure that drivers can manage their operating expenses while commuters continue to enjoy affordable fares.
“At the heart of what we do is our community. We want our partner drivers and passengers to know that we hear your concerns, and we are committed to supporting your well-being as we face these challenges together,” said Guinto.
As the ongoing war in the Middle East continues to push fuel prices higher, she said the company is ready to revisit its initiatives as needed to find a “fair balance” between keeping rides affordable and ensuring drivers can support their families.
