The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, will be the country’s dominant weather system in the coming days, which may bring warmer temperatures and isolated afternoon thunderstorms.

In its weekly weather outlook, PAGASA said the northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” still affected parts of Northern Luzon on Friday, March 20.

Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and Cagayan experienced partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, while the rest of the country had partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

From Saturday to Monday, March 21 to 23, PAGASA said the easterlies will prevail across the archipelago, bringing warmer weather.

Isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may occur, particularly in the afternoon or evening, mainly in eastern sections of the country.

From Tuesday to Wednesday, March 24 to 25, the easterlies are expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.

The rest of the country will remain partly cloudy to cloudy, with brief rain showers or thunderstorms likely in the afternoon or evening.

Toward the end of the forecast period, Thursday to Friday, March 26 to 27, PAGASA said warmer conditions may persist.

Generally fair weather is expected, though isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may still affect Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, especially in the afternoon or evening.

PAGASA added that no tropical cyclone is expected to enter or develop within the Philippine area of responsibility during this period.
