Aksyon Demokratiko, under the leadership of Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso, officially appointed Manila Vice Mayor Chi Atienza as its new vice president for Women on Wednesday, March 18.
Coinciding with National Women’s Month, the party recognized Atienza’s dedication to public service and hailed her as an inspiration for women across the Philippines.
In accepting the post, Atienza expressed gratitude for the trust placed in her by Domagoso and the party leadership.
"Maraming salamat po (Thank you to) Aksyon Demokratiko. I will continuously use my voice to speak for women and their rights," she said in a statement.
Atienza, presiding officer of the Manila City Council, is a long-time advocate for the welfare of marginalized groups.
"The vice mayor and Mayor Isko are known for their grassroots approach to governance. They actively visit communities to deliver services directly to the people that allows them to listen to the people's concerns firsthand and provide immediate solutions. From pushing for better healthcare access and housing to supporting local livelihood programs, the tandem remains focused on directly addressing the minimum basic needs of Manileños," it added.
Now serving as Aksyon Demokratiko’s Vice President for Women, Atienza vows to amplify the voices of ordinary Manileñas and ensure they are afforded equal opportunities to thrive.
