PRO-8 provides free rides to stranded commuters in Eastern Visayas

TACLOBAN CITY – The Police Regional Office-8 provided free rides in Eastern Visayas during the transport strike on Thursday, March 19.
In collaboration with local government units (LGUs), PRO-8 carried out 61 Libreng Sakay operations, deploying 54 police vehicles for commuters impacted by the strike.
PRO-8 assigned 4,002 personnel to key transit hubs, major roads, and other affected routes to manage traffic, maintain visibility, and assist commuters.
Additional officers were deployed for traffic support and checkpoint operations, supported by 194 civil disturbance management (CDM) personnel, standby augmentation forces, and 81 Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) personnel, along with drone operators to enhance monitoring and patrol operations.
Police Brig. Gen. Jayson Capoy, PRO-8 director, assured their preparedness to provide smooth and safe transportation for the public.
