'Libreng Sakay' in Manila for commuters amid transport strike
The Manila City Government deployed free rides on Thursday, March 19, to help commuters affected by the ongoing transport strike.
Under the directive of Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso, the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (MCDRRMD), together with partner agencies, mobilized vehicles, including two trucks and two pick-up units from the city government, and one DFP truck with 14 mobile units from the Manila Police District (MPD).
The free rides covered routes from Vito Cruz to Welcome Rotonda, Vito Cruz to Monumento, with Kartilya ng Katipunan serving as the main jump-off point.
Deployment started at 5 a.m. and will continue until 7 p.m., or until the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) reports no stranded commuters.
The city emphasized that it remains on standby to ensure the safe and orderly transport of all passengers.
