Gordon reunites with Acer Group founder

Philippine Red Cross Chairman Richard J. Gordon recently reunited with Acer Group founder Dr. Stan Shih and wife Carolyn after 30 years.
During their meeting, Gordon and Shih, who helped revolutionize Taiwan’s tech industry and put it on the world map, reminisced their journey in Subic.
Gordon said the meeting reminded him of Shih’s faith during one of the most uncertain times in the country – the eruption of Mount Pinatubo.
In 1995, Acer made its largest investment outside Taiwan, a manufacturing facility in Subic.
Gordon said the “Shihs personally came, got to know people, understood our vision, and stood by us, believing in what we were building even when many doubted.”
