Fire razes building in Cavite City; 80-year-old owner injured

CAVITE – A fire broke out in a building near the San Roque Church in P. Burgos Ave. in Cavite City, injuring a senior citizen on Thursday, March 19.
The Cavite City Bureau of Fire Protection (Cavite City BFP) told the Manila Bulletin that the building houses both commercial establishments and residential units.
The fire was reported at 7:02 a.m. and reached the second alarm at 7:09 a.m. before being extinguished at 8:04 a.m.
The 80-year-old owner of the building, who also lived on the premises, sustained a first-degree burn on the arm and was rushed to the hospital.
Among the units affected were a general merchandise store, a milk tea shop, a drug store, a roast chicken shop, and several residential apartments.
The Cavite City BFP estimates the cost of damage at more than P2.2 million. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
