The Caloocan City government ramped up support for youth employment by offering free, one-stop government services to first-time job seekers through a service fair held on Thursday, March 19, at Tala High School.
Hundreds of participants, mostly graduating senior high school students from the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track and Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners, took part in the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair.
Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan underscored the importance of expanding opportunities for young workers, especially those planning to enter the workforce immediately after senior high school.
Now, the option is better for our SHS-TVL students because there are opportunities that have opened up for them to start working decently, safely, and with dignity, especially to help improve the standard of living of their families),” Malapitan said.
If you are considering returning to school, UCC is there, and next time, PUP North Caloocan is there to help you graduate from college and increase opportunities for all of you),” he added.
The initiative, conducted in partnership with national agencies such as the Department of Education and the Department of Labor and Employment, focused on removing common barriers faced by young jobseekers—particularly the cost and complexity of securing pre-employment requirements.
During the event, applicants were able to process documents and connect with potential employers in one location, reducing both time and expenses associated with job applications.
