Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will be assisting the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) in running after scammers and organized syndicates in the real estate sector.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said they already signed an agreement with the NBI intended to intensify law enforcement campaign to protect real property buyers from unscrupulous groups and individuals involved in real estate scams.
Aliling and NBI director Melvin Matibag met on Tuesday to map out strengthened government efforts to combat real estate malpractices that victimize unsuspecting property buyers.
“We need to work together to safeguard the rights of real property buyers, ensuring that the government remains proactive in curbing fraudulent activities and in advancing safe, secure, and legitimate housing for every Filipino,” said Aliling.
He emphasized that the NBI’s expertise in investigation and law enforcement will significantly bolster DHSUD’s ongoing efforts to curb fraudulent real estate activities as he underscored the importance of interagency collaboration and a whole-of-government approach in addressing the issue.
