BARMM: Local gas stations complying with market trends
COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) assured on Tuesday that fuel stations across the region are compliant with prevailing market trends, following a week-long monitoring effort.
Since last week, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE) has been monitoring gas stations in the region's five provinces and one Special Geographic Area to ensure consumers are not shortchanged.
"The monitoring forms part of MENRE's oversight of the downstream oil and gas industry in the Bangsamoro region," the ministry said in a statement.
"It also supports the nationwide fuel price monitoring conducted by the Department of Energy to promote transparency, fair competition, and consumer protection."
MENRE's Energy Management and Development Services, in coordination with the Philippine National Police, conducted inspections and monitoring activities in all provinces and cities within BARMM.
The agency said proactive monitoring is essential to ensure that gas station owners adhere to lawful pricing and fair business practices. The monitoring includes a comparison of pump prices in BARMM and neighboring regions.
Other government agencies in BARMM are also monitoring the prices of basic goods, with the fasting month expected to end within the week.
