'Amihan' weakens further; warmer conditions to set in over the next few days — PAGASA
The northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” continues to weaken and is expected to bring warmer and more humid conditions across most of the country in the coming days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, March 18.
PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said the amihan is now affecting only Northern and Central Luzon and may be further confined to extreme Northern Luzon by Thursday, March 19.
“Bukas posible na umiiral na lamang sa extreme Northern Luzon kaya malaking bahagi na ng bansa ang makakaranas ng mainit at maalinsangan na panahon (By tomorrow, it may only prevail over extreme Northern Luzon, so a large part of the country may experience warm and humid weather),” she added.
As of Wednesday, PAGASA said it is not monitoring any low-pressure area or tropical cyclone within or outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
Over the next 24 hours, cloudy skies with light rains due to the amihan may prevail over Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela.
Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and the rest of Cagayan Valley may experience generally fair weather, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated light rains also caused by the northeast monsoon.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorm activity.
