Tricycle drivers in Quezon City began receiving P5,000 in cash assistance on Tuesday, March 17, under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Fuel Subsidy Program.
Beneficiaries, mostly members of various Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA), gathered at designated payout sites in Barangay Katipunan, District 1, and Buenamar Park in Novaliches Proper, District 5, to claim the subsidy.
The assistance offers temporary relief from the financial strain caused by increasing petroleum costs.
Recipients said the P5,000 will help them cover fuel expenses and sustain their operations in the coming weeks.
The fuel subsidy program aims to support transport workers whose livelihoods are directly affected by fuel price hikes.
More beneficiaries in other parts of the city are expected to receive the subsidy as the rollout continues.
