Mayor Joy Belmonte met with officials from the University of the Philippines (UP) to discuss the next steps in the proposed establishment of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Diliman.
The project aims to expand access to quality and affordable healthcare services.
During the meeting, officials discussed initial plans and potential areas of collaboration to move the project forward, including land use considerations, infrastructure requirements, and healthcare service integration.
Among those present at the meeting were UP Vice President for Development Daniel Peckley Jr., PGH Director Gerardo “Gap” D. Legaspi, and Assistant Vice President for Land Use Planning and Development Karen Ann Jago-on.
Also present were Quezon City government Planning and Development Department Officer-in-Charge Jed Gomez, Quezon City General Hospital Director Josephine Sabando, Health Department Head Ramona Abarquez, and Housing, Community Development and Resettlement Department OIC Jojo Conejero.
The proposed PGH Diliman facility is envisioned to complement existing public health institutions and help decongest major hospitals by bringing specialized medical services closer to residents in Quezon City and nearby areas.
City officials said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the local healthcare system and ensure that more Filipinos have access to high-quality, affordable medical care.
