The Pasay City government on Tuesday, March 17, started the distribution of P5,000 fuel subsidies to transport workers as temporary relief amid rising petroleum prices.
The payout, held at the Pasay City Cuneta Astrodome in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), aims to support transport workers whose livelihoods have been directly affected by the continuous increase in fuel costs.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said a total of 2,946 members of various Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA) received the subsidy to help cover fuel expenses and sustain their daily operations.
Rubiano personally visited the payout site to ensure the orderly and timely distribution of the financial assistance.
She added that the city government is also preparing the rollout of fuel subsidies for members of the Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (JODA), as well as other vulnerable sectors affected by rising petroleum prices.
