Lanao del Sur officials seek justice for slain family in Cagayan

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Officials from Lanao del Sur and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) are calling for immediate justice for the family recently killed in Cagayan province.

On Tuesday, Gov. Mamintal Adiong Jr. called for a resolution for the death of Salic Amerol, Mutalib Amerol, and Janisah Macud-Amerol in Barangay San Teresita, Lal-lo town on March 12. The family also has a residence and relatives in Lanao del Sur.

"We also respectfully urge the local government to provide immediate assistance and support to the Amerol family during this very difficult time," he said.

Adiong's son, Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia-ur Rahman Adiong, also condemned the killings, along with the Bangsamoro regional political party, the Serbisyong Inklusibo-Alyansang Progresibo.

The Amerols were killed after a supposed gold trade between the family and the dealers, which amounted to P1.2 million, who had agreed to meet in Lal-lo for the transaction.

On March 13, the Cagayan Police arrested two of the three suspects, identified as Frederick Pascua Usana and Rodel Sabal, both residents of Barangay Leron, Buguey town.

Cagayan Gov. Edgar Aglipay said in a statement that assistance to the bereaved family will be provided, and such acts of violence will not be tolerated in the province. (PNA)
