Jeric Gonzales breaks silence on split with Rabiya Mateo

After facing breakup rumors since 2024, Jeric Gonzales has finally confirmed that he and Rabiya Mateo have ended their relationship, calling it a "mutual decision."

During his recent guest appearance on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on GMA Network, Jeric admitted that he has been single for one year.

"Si Rabiya kasi, wala siyang binanggit tungkol sa topic na ‘to, tungkol sa breakup. So parang bilang respeto sa kaniya, ayokong magsalita tungkol dito (Rabiya, she didn't mention anything about this topic, about the breakup. So it's like out of respect for her, I don't want to talk about it)," said Jeric, star of the movie "Graduation Day" showing on March 18.

Without giving too much away about what happened to their relationship, Jeric said the breakup was mutual.

"But of course, there are things din na mutually na nakapagsunduan namin na parang kung ilalaban natin ‘to, mas nahihirapan tayong pareho (But of course, there are also things that we have mutually agreed upon that if we kept fighting for this, it would be more difficult for both of us)," he added.

Despite calling it quits, Jeric mentioned that he remained "good friends" with the former beauty queen and that he will always be happy and proud of her.

"I'm proud of her, and I wish her all the best pa rin sa lahat ng ginagawa niya," he said.

In 2024, the two sparked breakup rumors after unfollowing each other on Instagram. At the time, Mateo said they were still together.

In September last year, the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 winner said she was single but didn’t directly confirm her breakup with Jeric.

They confirmed their relationship in 2022.
