The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is fast-tracking drainage upgrades on Dapitan Street in Manila to improve water flow and provide safer roads for residents and motorists.
DPWH said 81.12 percent of the project has already been completed, ensuring the area is better prepared for the upcoming rainy season.
The work includes upgrading drainage lines and clearing waterways along Dapitan, Maceda, and Vicente Cruz Streets to enhance rainwater flow and integrate with existing infrastructure.
Officials said the project addresses long-standing flooding in key thoroughfares, ensuring more reliable roads during heavy rains.
The rehabilitation is part of the government’s priority program to secure flood-prone roads across Metro Manila.
