SANTA CRUZ, Laguna – Gov. Sol Aragones officially opened the Anilag (Ani ng Laguna) Festival here on Tuesday.
Sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito, chairman of the Senate Committee on Tourism, was the guest of honor.
Ejercito pledged to allocate P100 million for hospital construction and development in Laguna and another P50 million for tourism. He said he visits Laguna tourism sites with his motorcycle group.
The Anilag Festival not just promotes agriculture but also develops local talents and tourism, Aragones said.
Highlight of the day was Sayawit, a song and dance competition where 24 towns of the province competed. Outstanding Lagunenses, among them song writer Vehnee Saturno, were honored on Tuesday.
Hundreds of people watched opening where local artists and a popular girl group performed.
The week-long festival started kicked off on Monday.
