BUTUAN CITY – Police in the Caraga region are gearing up for the Ligtas Summer Vacation 2026, with more than 1,400 personnel set to be deployed to ensure public safety from March 29 to May 31.
The Police Regional Office-13 (PRO-13) led by Police Brig. Gen. Marcial Magistrado IV said preparations are underway in coordination with local government units, Department of Tourism, other law enforcement agencies, and the private sector.
"Among the measures are the intensification of checkpoint operations, mobile patrols, the establishment of Motorist Assistance Centers (MACs), and police visibility operations," Police Major Jennifer Ometer, chief of the PRO-13 information office, said in an interview.
Ometer pointed out that strengthened collaboration with LGUs and other stakeholders aims to prevent or minimize incidents related to summer vacation activities and crimes against property.
She added that mobile patrols will be conducted to ensure police presence in areas of convergence, including transportation hubs and other areas vulnerable to illegal activities.
The partnership with LGUs also involves mobilizing police auxiliaries and force multipliers at the municipal and city levels.
"The different stations and units of PRO-13 are also working with rural health units for the deployment of doctors, nurses, and other medical staff in MACs," Ometer said.
Based on data from the PRO-13 Operations Division, about 1,470 police personnel will be mobilized across the region for SUMVAC 2026. (PNA)
