Rick Price gears up for comeback concert in Manila
Australian singer-songwriter Rick Price, best known for the hit "Heaven Knows," is set to serenade his Pinoy fans anew.
He is making a stop at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City on April 7, as part of his "For Lovers" concert tour.
Rick first visited the Philippines in 1992. He has since visited the country several times.
For Rick, Filipino fans are special.
"I think what's special about the Filipino fans is they've stayed with me for so long, you know, since the early 90s. So, I'm very grateful, you know, that they have stayed with me and that my songs have meant so much to them," the singer-songwriter told us during an online media conference.
He added, "And I've always said this in probably every interview I've done, that there's a gentleness about the Filipinos, a certain sense of kindness in that, you know, there's goodwill amongst the Filipino people. I find them a generous and good-hearted race of people, and that seems to permeate through the whole country. I really like that. And they're music lovers, you know, so I really connect with them because of that," he added.
His last memorable trip here was in 2019, performing alongside homegrown acts Joey G and Jinky Vidal in several gigs spanning Manila, Cebu, and Davao.
That time, he was also able to perform on the Wish Bus, playing a stripped-down rendition of "Heaven Knows," which quickly garnered over 10 million views.
With nearly a decade in the music industry, Rick has earned multiple awards and recognitions for his songs, not only for ''Heaven Knows," but also for several others, including "Nothing Can Stop Us Now," and "If You Were My Baby."
Rick's love affair with music started when he was quite young.
He related, "My grandmother and my father always walked around the house singing and whistling all the time. And I guess it rubbed off on me."
His fascination with music continued through adolescence until he ultimately decided to become a professional musician.
"I know how excited I get about new music, about new songs, about recording songs and then sending them out into the world. I love that whole process, and I love connecting with other human beings through my music. And that's what keeps me inspired to do it, the connection," he explained.
What is it about music that makes him so passionate about it, we asked.
"I don't really know why I have remained passionate about it. But I would say that I love singing and playing music because it makes me feel good. So, that's really the main reason," he shared.
"I like it because it's good for the soul, it's good for the body and the mind. Even if you don't sing or play professionally, it doesn't matter, even if you're not on stage. Music is good for you," he ended.
