MMDA worker dies, another injured after being electrocuted in Manila
An employee of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) died while his colleague was hurt after they were electrocuted by a live wire while conducting tree-pruning operations in Sta. Mesa, Manila, on Saturday, March 15, the Manila Police District (MPD) said.
The police identified the deceased as 46-year-old Noel Calanao from Marikina City and his injured co-worker as 62-year-old Dante Guardiano from Rizal Province.
According to the MPD, the victims were doing tree-pruning work when they accidentally came into contact with a live wire.
The two were quickly rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, where Calanao was declared dead on arrival, while Guardiano survived the incident. He remains under observation while recuperating from his injuries.
The police said the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
