Medal haul for PH team in Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad
The Philippine team brought home a total of 4 golds, 5 silvers, 4 bronzes plus 23 merit and 4 credit awards from the competition
Up to 1,200 math-gifted students from 16 nations, including 40 from the Philippines, competed in the 2026 Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad (SEAMO) held recently in Bali, Indonesia.
The Philippine team brought home a total of 4 golds, 5 silvers, 4 bronzes plus 23 merit and 4 credit awards from the competition.
Aside from the Philippines and host Indonesia, the SEAMO also drew participants from Australia, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
Dr. Simon Chua, head of Mathematics Trainers' Guild Phils (MTG) which mentored the Philippine team, named the team's gold medalists as Theo Alonzo Buiser of De La Salle Santiago Zobel, Adrian Jeric Ang of Xavier School San Juan, Hillary Beatrice Lorenzo of Immaculate Conception Greenhills and Carsten Edmund Ang of Chinese International School Manila.
Both Adrian Jeric Ang and Carsten Edmund Ang got Special Awards for winning SEAMO gold medals in two consecutive years.
The silver medalists are Andrei Justin Ang and Harold Theodore Lorenzo, both from Xavier School; Jeian Jamaine Chua of Makati Hope Christian School; Annette Tiffany Yu of St. John's Institute; and Ethan Caleb Choy of Phil. Science High School Main Campus.
The bronze medal winners are Jhomson Jencen Chua of Makati Hope Christian School; Alexandre Jeffrei Paulino of Notre Dame ofv Greatet Manila; Anne Dorothy Madrazo of Timoteo Paez Elem. School Pasay City and Angela Bella Domingo of French Int'l. School Manila.

Math specialist Renard Eric Chua led the Philippine delegation.
