CEBU CITY – The city government of Tagbilaran officially launched the Saulog Tagbilaran 2026 on Monday, March 16.
The launching, spearheaded by Mayor Jane Yap, was held as the city celebrated the 461st Blood Compact Anniversary at the Tagbilaran City Friendship Park.
A Mass at the Saint Joseph the Worker Cathedral Shrine Parish kicked off the launching, followed by the wreath-laying and floral dedication in commemoration of the 461st Blood Compact Anniversary.
The solemn ceremony paid tribute to the historic pact of friendship and alliance, which remains a significant part of the city’s identity.
"This year's Saulog becomes more significant as we commemorate the 461st Blood Compact Anniversary which symbolizes friendship, unity, and mutual respect between people," Yap said.
One of the highlights of the launching program was the presentation of the official candidates for Mutya sa Tagbilaran 2026 and the Saulog Festival King and Queen.
Several activities are in store for this year's Saulog with the theme “One Family, One City."
Major events include the Saulog Sports Opening Ceremony on March 22, Saulog Tagbilaran Interschool Quiz Bee Competition Year 3 on March 23, Mutya sa Tagbilaran on April 19, Saulog Festival King and Queen on April 22, Saulog Street Dancing Competition and Ritual Showdown on April 26, DuEkSam Night on May 1, and Maoy sa Mayo Saulog Concert on May 3.
Regular Saulog activities include the Saulog Tagbilaran Bazaar and Nightly Entertainment from April 6 to May 3 at the City Hall Grounds, Kombira sa Tagbilaran on April 25, Himog Huni Original Songwriting Competition Ikawalong Hugna on April 28, and Saint Joseph the Worker Fluvial Parade on April 29.
