More than 200 students from Foundation University presented their tech-enabled innovations during the university’s annual Digital Expo, held at Robinsons Dumaguete from March 5 to 7, 2026.
At the heart of the city, a crowd gathered around screens, prototypes, and curious machines. Students explained their work with excitement and pride as the audience leaned in to see how creativity meets technology.
For three days, the space became more than an exhibit—it offered a glimpse into what the next generation of innovators can create with the freedom to explore.

The event featured various projects, from robotics to design prototypes, showcasing the diverse talents across the university’s colleges. Among the highlights was a virtual reality gallery featuring mangrove species, produced by the Department of Fine Arts in collaboration with Siit Mangrove Ecopark. With the help of technology, audiences immersed themselves in the world of mangroves while also learning about the importance of environmental protection.
Automation also took center stage with the presentation of intelligent robotic hounds from the College of Computer Science. Meanwhile, the Department of Architecture showcased creations featuring bamboo trusses. The expo also celebrated heritage with a cultural hour and a choral competition that marked the closing of the second and third days.

Now in its 18th year, the Digital Expo remains a venue for students to showcase their ideas and explore possibilities beyond the confines of the classroom.
“This year’s Digital Expo continues to illustrate Foundation University’s three pillars—innovation, culture, and sustainability—supported by our students’ dedication to preserving our cultural heritage,” said Foundation University president Victor Vicente “Dean” Sinco. “It sets the stage for our pioneers to exhibit their creativity and innovation as we pursue the development of the next generation of tech professionals.”

Moreover, the Digital Expo demonstrates how students’ ideas can translate into real-world applications. For example, a hydroponics prototype first introduced by the College of Agriculture has since been refined and is now used to grow lettuce distributed to local restaurants and grocery stores.
At the preparatory level, Foundation Preparatory Academy continues to showcase robots developed by students each year. Its Robotics Program, under the Senior High School STEM strand, along with enhancement classes for Grades 4 to 10, has produced a competitive robotics team that has performed well in the National Robotics Competition in the Visayas.
All these projects demonstrate that the Digital Expo is not only a venue to exhibit students’ creativity but also a platform to actualize their ideas through real-world applications.
