'Amihan' still brings cooler temperatures across parts of the Philippines
The northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” continued to bring cooler conditions across parts of the Philippines on Monday, March 16, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported.
Over the next 24 hours, cloudy skies with light rains are expected over the Bicol Region, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Visayas, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.
Meanwhile, the rest of Mindanao may experience partly cloudy skies to at times cloudy conditions with rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorm activity.
PAGASA earlier said the easterlies, or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, are expected to prevail across the country by midweek.
The shift in wind pattern from northeasterlies to easterlies may bring warmer weather conditions in the latter part of the week as the Philippines gradually transitions away from the effects of amihan.
