VP Sara keeps name of possible 2028 running mate secret to spare them from attacks
Vice President Sara Duterte said she will not yet reveal the identity of her possible running mate for the 2028 elections to prevent political attacks against the individual.
In an interview in Davao City on Saturday, March 14, Duterte said she had already approached someone last year to be her vice presidential partner, but the person has yet to decide whether to run.
“Antayin na lang natin yung desisyon niya. Huwag na lang natin siya guluhin (Let’s just wait for the person’s decision. Let’s not disturb them),” she said.
“Huwag na natin siyang pangalanan kasi baka atakihin siya, sisirain yung pangalan niya (Let’s not name them because they might be attacked and their name destroyed),” she added.
Four politicians eye Senate slate
The Vice President also confirmed that four people have so far approached her about joining a possible Senate slate for the 2028 elections.
“Apat lang (Only four have approached me),” she said.
She, however, did not give a clear answer as to the qualifications of her senatorial candidates.
“Allergic ako sa mga politiko ngayon. So, i-consider lang nila ako (I am allergic to politicians right now. So they should just consider me),” Duterte said.
Thanks supporters after survey boost
Meanwhile, the Vice President thanked supporters following the results of a Tangere survey showing her voter preference rising from 43 percent to 48 percent.
“Lagi naman, sa lahat ng surveys, nagpapasalamat ako sa patuloy na tiwala at paniniwala ng kababayan natin sa akin at sa aking mga kasamahan sa Office of the Vice President (In every survey, I always thank our fellow Filipinos for their continued trust and belief in me and my colleagues at the Office of the Vice President),” she said.
