Ricci Rivero and import James Dickey III led the charge for the Fuel Masters who led by as many as 35 points en route to the dominant victory that allowed them to join the Terrafirma Dyip as the unlikely leaders early in the season.
Rivero fired 18 points to go with nine rebounds and four assists while Dickey added 17 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, four steals and four blocks.
Three other Fuel Masters scored in double figures with Ken Tuffin chipping in 17 while Evan Nelle had 14 points and eight assists. Bryan Santos was the other double-digit scorer for Phoenix with 13.
Riding the crest of its opening day win over Magnolia, Phoenix went off to a hot start and took a 33-17 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Titan Ultra did show semblance of fight in the middle quarters but Phoenix wasn’t really threatened as the Fuel Masters easily reestablished a double-digit margin in the final frame.
Import Michael Gilmore paced the Giant Risers with 27 points and 20 rebounds but no other player reached double-figure in scoring with Fran Yu and Joshua Munzon contributing nine apiece.
