A 48-year-old security guard voluntarily surrendered to authorities after shooting a female out-of-school youth in Pasay City on Thursday, March 12.
Pasay City Police chief Col. Joselito De Sesto said the suspect, identified only as “Rolan,” was placed under arrest when he surrendered at around 11:45 a.m. at the corner of New Road and Diokno Boulevard in Pasay City.
De Sesto said the victim, identified as “Tre,” 14, sustained a lone gunshot wound to her foot and was immediately brought to a hospital for treatment.
According to police, the incident occurred at Lords Grace Compound at the corner of Buendia and Macapagal Avenues in Barangay 76, Pasay City.
Initial investigation showed that the suspect allegedly became irritated by the noise created by a group of minors, including the victim.
Police said the suspect was persuaded by a security officer to give himself up to authorities, along with the 9mm pistol he used in the shooting.
The suspect is currently detained at the police custodial facility and will be charged with frustrated homicide and violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
