It's shaping up to be a king-sized year for Richard Gutierrez as he dives into filming his highly anticipated new action series, "Blood vs Duty," produced by ABS-CBN.

"I'm so excited. Marami pa kaming eksena na gusto kong ipakita. But for now, teaser muna ang pwede naming ipakita. (We still have a lot of scenes that I want to show. But for now, all we can show is a teaser.) We've done a lot of tapings and sleepless nights," said Richard during an interview after being officially crowned as King.PH's brand ambassador at BGC in Taguig City.
Richard added, "We’ve already filmed plenty of action scenes. I’ve had to get massages more than once to recover from the aches of our tapings. More than anything, I believe we have something special."
Coming off the success of his 2025 projects—television’s "Incognito" and the blockbuster movie "Shake, Rattle, and Roll" — the 42-year-old actor admits he thrives in the action genre.
"Right now, I’m really enjoying these projects. The stories speak to men, but also to the whole family. I’ve done many action shows before, but this time, we’re making the storylines more relatable. It feels like the perfect era for action.
"Taping is physically demanding—like a royal workout that requires real endurance. Our hours are long, so staying fit and active is a must. My approach to preparation has always been the same: I give every action scene the focus of preparing for battle," the actor shared.
Richard also shared that the co-parenting arrangement for his children, Zion and Kai, is going smoothly. He expressed excitement watching his sons grow up so quickly.
"My kids have a full schedule. They’re into sports—basketball and, more recently, boxing. But as a dad, I also make sure they focus on academics while balancing school with fun activities. Of course, they get their iPad time too."
"Co-parenting has worked out well. We get equal time with the kids. Each of my boys has his own personality. Zion is the quieter, more intellectual type, while Kai is outgoing and energetic," Richard said.
When asked if one of his sons might follow in his footsteps, Richard replied, "Zion loves singing and watches all my series and movies. He also enjoys my dad’s old films. Both boys are curious about filmmaking and acting, so maybe one day, one of them will enter showbiz—when the time is right."
At the launch, Richard received a royal welcome from the King.PH officials Seth Jamora and lawyer Mark Gamboa as he marked the start of his reign as the brand's new ambassador.
When asked if he knew anyone who lost their way in the gaming world, Richard answered, "None among my circle, but I have heard tales of gamers who lost to bad habits."
Richard added, "It’s always important to remind everyone to enjoy, have fun, but to rule with responsibility and keep life in balance."
