Baguio temperature drops to 9°C, coldest so far this 'amihan' season

The northeast monsoon (amihan) continued to bring chilly weather across parts of the country, with Baguio City recording its coldest temperature so far this amihan season at 9 degrees Celsius (°C) early Saturday, March 14, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The cool surge also reached Metro Manila, where Quezon City logged a low of 19.7 degrees Celsius—among the coldest temperatures recorded in the National Capital Region during the current amihan period.
Data from PAGASA showed several areas in Northern and Central Luzon also experienced cooler-than-usual morning temperatures on Saturday.
The 10 areas that recorded the lowest temperatures were led by Baguio City at 9°C, followed by Basco, Batanes at 17.2°C and Casiguran, Aurora at 18.4°C.
Other areas on the list included Aparri, Cagayan at 19°C, Laoag City in Ilocos Norte at 19.6°C, Quezon City in Metro Manila at 19.7°C, and Dagupan City in Pangasinan at 20°C.
Temperatures were slightly warmer in other parts of the country but still among the lowest recorded on Saturday, including Romblon, Romblon at 21.3°C, Daet in Camarines Norte at 22°C, and Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur at 22°C.
PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin de la Cruz-Galicia said the surge of amihan is expected to continue affecting the entire archipelago over the next 24 hours.
Cloudy skies with light rains may persist over Bicol Region, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Dinagat Islands.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
