The Valenzuela City government announced on Thursday, March 12, that qualified public transport drivers will receive a P5,000 fuel subsidy from the national government to help ease the impact of rising fuel prices.

According to the city’s Public Information Office, the assistance will be distributed in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The city government said the subsidy aims to support legitimate public transport drivers who continue to face challenges due to rising oil prices.
The financial assistance is part of the government’s efforts to provide relief to the transport sector and help drivers sustain their daily operations.
Meanwhile, the city’s Consumer Welfare Unit (CWU) under the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (LEDIPO), conducted monitoring activities from March 9 to 13 in gasoline stations, supermarkets, grocery stores, and wet markets in the city.
The monitoring aims to ensure that establishments comply with government pricing regulations and maintain fair pricing practices for consumers amid rising fuel costs.
It added that a memorandum will also be issued from March 10 to 16 to fuel retailers and other establishments reminding them to follow fuel pricing guidance from the Department of Energy (DOE), maintain transparency in price adjustments, and comply with consumer protection laws.
The local government advised beneficiaries to monitor the city government’s official social media pages for updates and further details on the subsidy distribution.
