DAVAO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office in Region 12 has extended financial assistance to families affected by earthquakes in Sultan Kudarat from mid-January to February.
The Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) was distributed through the Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD).
DSWD-12 Regional Director Loreto Cabaya Jr. said the government allocated P67,338,850 for 13,022 families from the towns of Kalamansig, Lebak, and Palimbang.
Cabaya said distribution for 9,060 families in Kalamansig has been completed. He added that 3,284 families also received financial assistance on March 12 while the distribution for 678 families in Palimang is set next week. Each family received P5,175, according to the DSWD.
Cabaya said that among those who received financial assistance were many women who serve as pillars of their families and communities and striving to support their loved ones as they recover from the effects of the earthquake.
Just in time for Women’s Month, he said that the payout was facilitated by dedicated women staff of DSWD-12.
“Their efforts highlight the vital role of women not only as beneficiaries but also as public servants who continue to empower communities and support families on their path to recovery,” Cabaya said.
Sultan Kudarat Gov. Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu thanked the DSWD under the leadership of Secretary Rex Gatchalian for their swift response to assist affected communities.
Mangudadatu added that the provincial government will continue to closely coordinate with DSWD and other national agencies to ensure that all necessary assistance and support reach affected communities.
“Together, we remain committed to helping our people recover and rebuild stronger,” the governor said.
