Stakeholders from the Philippine golf industry gathered at the historic Intramuros Golf Club on Thursday, March 12, for the GolfCon Invitational, the curtain-raiser for Philippine GolfCon 2026.
The two-day night golf competition, held March 12–13, brought together sponsors, partners, and industry leaders to strengthen collaboration and highlight the growing role of golf tourism in the country.
Located inside Manila’s historic walled city, Intramuros Golf Club is the only golf course within the heritage district. Organizers said staging the invitational at the venue also underscores the cultural value of historic golf courses and their potential to attract both local and international visitors.
Leading the ceremonial tee-off were US-based PGA coach Nathan Kang; Manjit Reandi, president of Camp John Hay Golf Club; Harsh Kumar Jain; Lyle Fernando Uy of the Department of Tourism; and GolfCon chairman Jesse Guerrero.
Organizers said the invitational symbolizes the collective effort of industry stakeholders to promote the Philippines as a premier golf destination in Asia.
“The Philippine golf industry is thriving, and the opportunities ahead are tremendous,” Guerrero said. “GolfCon brings together golf courses, brands, tourism leaders and event organizers to strengthen communities around the sport and unlock its potential for tourism and economic growth.”
Among the companies supporting the initiative are PacSports, Empire Golf, J10 Sports, Icon Golf, Transview Golf, Malbon Golf, The Turf Company, and GolfCartsPH.
Organizers noted that golf continues to grow as both a sport and an economic driver, supporting jobs in tourism, hospitality, retail, and event management.
The official opening of GolfCon 2026 will be held on March 14 at the Grand Ballroom of the Manila Marriott Hotel.
The two-day expo is expected to draw golfers, industry professionals, tourism stakeholders, and enthusiasts, with exhibits on golf equipment, apparel, training technology, course management solutions, and golf tourism experiences.
Organizers said GolfCon aims to serve as a platform for industry collaboration while promoting golf’s broader role in supporting communities and tourism destinations.
With continued support from government and private sector partners, they added, GolfCon 2026 represents another step toward positioning the Philippines as a leading golf tourism destination in Asia.
