Police have arrested two suspects in the murder of three cellphone technicians whose bodies were discovered in Lal-lo, Cagayan on Thursday, March 12.
The suspects were identified as Fred, 31, and Rod, 48.
They were captured in a follow-up operation on Friday afternoon, March 13, in Barangay San Juan, Buguey, Cagayan.
Recovered from them were a 9mm pistol, an M16 rifle with an erased serial number, magazines, ammunition, improvised firearms, a rifle grenade, bags, and three cellular phones.
These were subjected to forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police have conducted an inspection of the victims’ vehicle at the Camalaniugan Police Station and visited the Grupo Medico de Dios Hospital in Camalaniugan to obtain possible surveillance footages.
Two relatives of the victims who were supposed to join the trip but were left behind because their car could not accommodate everyone identified the suspects through a police rogue gallery as individuals who had previous transactions with the victims.
With this information, the follow-up operation was conducted.
Two witnesses from Tuguegarao City were taken to the Buguey Police Station to confirm the identity of the suspects.
Manhunt continues for another possible suspect.
Robbery may be the motive after P1.1 million in cash and a Samsung mobile phone belonging to one of the victims were reported missing.
Police appealed to the people for information to help strengthen the case and bring justice to the victims Salic, 41; Janisa, 38, and Motaleb, 40, who are members of the Maranao tribe and their families.
