A few days ago, Tumblr, of all things, was blocked off the internet, for potentially being tagged as an unlicensed gambling site.
The Philippines’ Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) had responded with the issue in a Facebook post:
“The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) is currently investigating the series of reports raised by concerned citizens online regarding the alleged blocking of microblogging and social networking platform Tumblr in the Philippines. The CICC assures that this matter is being reviewed with priority, and we will provide further updates once the investigation is completed.”
As of this writing, the issue seems to have been addressed. Perhaps partially. Visiting Tumblr sites via PC and mobile browser (not the app) so far has been working on our end. But it’s been mixed. Some of us can and some can’t. Let us know how it is on your end.
Tumblr on a mobile web browser (not app) looks like it's accessible.
Besides Tumblr, we have seen some blogspot sites being blocked for being related or having content on unlicensed gambling sites.
Tumblr was launched in 2007 and is a platform for providing algorithm-free discoveries. It is highly customizable and allows creative expression.
