The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) personnel led a citywide cleanup drive on Thursday, March 12, as part of the celebration of National Women’s Month, removing graffiti and vandalism in public areas to help promote safer and more walkable streets.
Dubbed Project HILAMOS, the campaign was spearheaded by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) under the leadership of district director Police Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio.
The activity was conducted at around 8 a.m., with Col. Joel Villanueva representing Silvio during the event held at the corner of EDSA and New York Avenue in Barangay E. Rodriguez.
Quezon City 2nd District Councilor Julienne Alyson Rae Medalla joined police officers and volunteers during the cleanup activity.
Similar operations were simultaneously carried out in several parts of the city, including Barangay Talipapa, Nova Proper in Novaliches, Old Balara, Pinagkaisahan, Payatas, Culiat, Vasra, Kaligayahan, and areas along Elliptical Road.
The project focuses on removing graffiti and vandalism from walls and other structures to help restore the cleanliness and visual appeal of public spaces.
In a message delivered by Villanueva, Silvio emphasized the importance of maintaining order and cleanliness in the city.
“Sa pamamagitan ng proyektong ito, patuloy nating pinapanatili ang kaayusan at kalinisan sa mga pampublikong lugar, maiiwasan ang bandalismo, at maisusulong ang ligtas, walkable, at child-friendly na Quezon City (Through this project, we will continue to maintain order and cleanliness in public areas, prevent vandalism, and promote a safe, walkable, and child-friendly Quezon City),” he said.
Councilor Medalla welcomed the initiative and noted the role of the police in promoting safer public spaces for residents.
“Nakakatuwa na ito ay sa pangunguna ng ating kapulisan dahil nagpapakita ito ng kanilang commitment sa Women’s Month. Makakaasa kayo na kami sa Sangguniang Panlungsod ay patuloy na susuporta upang matiyak na ang mga programang kagaya nito ay tuloy-tuloy at masu-sustain (It is heartening that this is being led by our police force because it demonstrates their commitment to Women’s Month. You can be assured that we at the City Council will continue to provide support to ensure that programs like this are sustained and carried forward),” she said.
Police personnel from different stations across the city joined the activity together with members of the PNP Officers Ladies Club (PNP-OLC), barangay officials, and community volunteers.
