A Filipino-owned startup is challenging the way Southeast Asians plan their trips — and it's betting that the future of travel booking starts with a video.
Travereel, billed as the Philippines' first video-centric travel social network and booking platform, has officially launched Vicky, an AI travel agent built directly into its short-form video ecosystem. The feature lets users go from watching a travel reel to holding a fully customized, multi-day itinerary in seconds.
"Travereel was born out of a passion for making your dream trip easy and unforgettable," said Ricky Sy, chairman and co-founder of Travereel. "With the introduction of Vicky and its AI powered features, we aren't just a booking app; we are a travel companion that understands your style. Designed to deliver ease in traveling, the travereel app can be your all-in-one companion for any travel whether big or small."
From scroll to stay
The core problem Travereel is solving is one most Filipino travelers know well: spending hours watching travel content on social media, only to feel overwhelmed when it's time to actually plan the trip.
Vicky addresses this by analyzing a user's preferences, budget, and trending destinations within the Travereel community to generate hyper-personalized day-by-day itineraries on demand. Hotels and activities featured in reels can be booked directly through the AI-generated plan, closing the gap between inspiration and action.
The AI also includes budget optimization tools, surfacing smarter suggestions to help travelers stretch their money further — a feature likely to resonate in a market where value-for-money remains a top booking priority.
Built for group travel
Travereel's update also takes aim at one of the most universally dreaded experiences in modern travel: coordinating a group trip over scattered chat threads.
The app now features a built-in group chat where friends can vote on destinations, align on stops, and co-finalize Vicky-generated itineraries in one place. A split billing tool handles the math afterward, letting groups divide costs for accommodations, activities, and even pasalubong shopping without the usual back-and-forth.
A platform that pays creators
For travel content creators, Travereel is positioning itself as a monetization layer on top of the content they're already producing. When a user books a stay or activity through a creator's video, or through a Vicky itinerary inspired by that video, the creator earns a commission through the platform's built-in affiliate marketing system.
The model mirrors what platforms like TikTok Shop have done for e-commerce, but applied specifically to the travel vertical and localized for the Philippine market.

The Travereel app is available for download on both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store
