PH team wins 31 awards at Thai math contest

The Philippine team bagged a total of 31 awards at the International Talent Mathematics Contest (ITMC) held in Bangkok, Thailand from Feb. 28 to March 4.
Aside from the Philippines and host Thailand, the contest also drew participants from Iran, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Vietnam and Brazil.
Thai delegates topped the competition which was held at the University of Thailand Chamber of Commerce.
Filipino student Raymund Kristobal Acosta of Salve Regina School of Palawan won the country's lone gold medal.
The team also got three silvers, courtesy of Jax Kenly Lim of Grace Christian College, Karen Ong of Iloilo Scholastic College and Marcius Kade Soliven of St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur.
Fourteen others garnered bronze medals. They are: Lance Madrazo of Zamboanga Chong Hua High School; Carl Vincent Villanueva of Reg. Science High School for Reg. 1; Ava Renee Garcia of St. Paul College Pasig; Elisse Katherine Maningas of St. Theresa's College, QC; Franklin Edwin Jansol and Francis Edwin Jansol of Precious International School of Davao; J. Zachary Spencer Palisoc of Pangasinan Universal Institute; Gabe Breiner Castillo of Kong Hua School; Chris Tote Balberan and Aly Michalka of Palawan Hope Christian School; Ruiqi Zhou of Hope Christian High School; Cataleya Mharee of Precious international School of Davao; Sherien Joy Sumanting of Salve Regina School of Palawan; and Aranz Cesar Tubon of St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur.
The Merit Awardees include Cassandra Eivonnlle Zamantha Nicole Badua; Flormei Diaz l; Gibson Onyx Lim; Jose Earl Racal Jr.; Juan Lucas Corcuera; Hylee Ricafranca; Ahziz Philip Fernan Abejay; Johann Travis Narciso; Gavriil Dominic Ramos; McMarkie Theophillus Unday; Kishi Ena Mendoza; Jase Lauren Camargo; and Seowoo Lee.
MTG staff member Mico Ventus headed the delegation.
