P47.6-M shabu recovered in Tawi-Tawi drug bust
Anti-illegal drug operatives on Wednesday seized P47.6-million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Sibuto, Tawi-Tawi.
Two high-value suspects were apprehended in the operation, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said in a news release Thursday.
Authorities confiscated seven golden-yellow tea bags labeled “Guanyinwang” containing about seven kilograms of shabu.
The suspects, identified only as Alvin and Ben, both residents of Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, PDEA said.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday reported the arrest of 23 most wanted persons and the seizure of P26-million worth of narcotics in nationwide operations from March 9 to 11.
Of those arrested, 21 were listed as most wanted persons, including one on the national level list of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
PNP chief Police Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. commended operating units for sustained efforts in tracking fugitives and intensifying anti-illegal drug operations nationwide.
"These accomplishments reflect the dedication and persistence of our police personnel in ensuring that fugitives are brought to justice and illegal drugs are kept off our streets," he said.
