CEBU CITY – A P50,000 cash reward has been offered for information that would help solve a kidnapping incident in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado said the cash reward will be given to those who can identify persons who forced a man to board a van in a terminal in Barangay Dao on Wednesday afternoon, March 11.
Aumentado assured that the identities of informants will be kept confidential.
“We are asking help from the public regarding a kidnapping incident in Dao. If you have information, please contact us immediately. There will be a P50,000 cash reward for any information that would help identify or arrest the perpetrators,” Aumentado said.
Police Lt. Col. John Kareen Escober, chief of the Tagbilaran City police, said they have conducted an investigation after an alleged kidnapping at Dao Terminal circulated on social media.
Escober said a white van was used to abduct the victim around 3 p.m. Investigators are still trying to identify the victim. Once identified, police may be able to determine the motive of the kidnapping, Escober said.
The license plates of the vehicle used in the abduction have been obtained and forwarded to the Land Transportation Office for verification.
Escober said investigators are reviewing footage of security cameras in the area where the incident happened. No one has appeared before the police to report a kidnapped or missing individual.
Police will coordinate with the person who uploaded the video of the supposed kidnapping on social media, Escober said. The Bohol Police Provincial Office has investigated the incident.
