DHSUD meets with housing, real estate sector for proactive measures amid Middle East conflict
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling
The national government will be holding a dialogue with private developers to come up with measures on how to mitigate the impact to the economy of the escalating tensions in the Middle East, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) disclosed on Thursday, March 12.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling emphasized the need to balance the mandate of the DHSUD in addressing concerns of the developers while protecting the interest of homebuyers within the bounds of the law and amid the uncertainties sparked by the war.
“We want to ensure the readiness of the housing and real estate sector on the effects of the Middle East situation to the economy. That’s why we have to align all the efforts with that of our private partners,” said Aliling.
Aliling explained that the dialogue was aimed at ensuring that proactive measures are in-place to lessen the impact of the ongoing conflict while sustaining the positive momentum of government housing initiatives.
Invited for the dialogue were the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association Inc. (SHDA), Organization of Socialized and Economic Housing Developers of the Philippines (OSHDP), and the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Association (CREBA).
“It is important to lay down the proactive measures before the situation worsens in the Middle East in order to cushion the impact to our economy,” said Aliling.
The impact of the Middle East crisis is already evident by the rising fuel prices in the country which is projected to get worse as the war drags on.
