2 foreign nationals linked to P6.8-B shabu smuggling in Occidental Mindoro fall

CAMP NAKAR, Lucena City –Two Chinese nationals were arrested for their alleged involvement in a P6.8-billion shabu smuggling attempt in Paluan, Occidental Mindoro.

Troops earlier recovered 43 sacks of suspected shabu on Tuesday, March 10, in an abandoned speedboat on the coastline of Paluan.

Soldiers mounted pursuit operations and arrested the suspects on Wednesday, March 11, the Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on Thursday, March 12,

Recovered from them were 30 packs of suspected shabu weighing one kilo each.

Solcom said these are believed to be part of the same smuggling attempt and are expected to further increase the total volume and estimated value of the recovered illegal drugs.

Two Filipinos from Nasugbu, Batangas on board a twin-engine rubber boat suspected to be the Chinese’ companions were nabbed on Wednesday after they were seen approaching the area.
