Zamboanga City deploys teams to monitor prices

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Mayor Khymer Olaso has ordered the deployment of inspection teams to monitor prices of fuel and other commodities here.
Olaso issued the order during the Local Price Monitoring Council on Wednesday, March 11, to implement measures to arrest hoarding and price manipulation due to the ongoing Middle East crisis.
These teams are composed of regional trade personnel and the police and have been ordered to ensure that gas retailers are not hoarding fuel stocks in anticipation of further price increases, to make sure that gas stations do not implement increases ahead of weekly adjustments, and monitor unauthorized price increases in basic commodities.
The city government has adopted a four-day work week and energy conservation protocols in line with Memorandum Circular No. 114 issued by President Marcos.
