Rizal PPO director orders probe on alleged widespread illegal gambling ops

Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) Director Col. Eleazar Barber Jr. on Wednesday, March 11, ordered an immediate investigation into the reported widespread illegal gambling operations across the province, including the alleged involvement of some police officers in the illegal activities.
Barber issued the directive following reports of rampant color game, drop ball, baklay, and pula-puti gambling operations in the province's towns, with some alleging that an illegal gambling operator conducts her business near a camp of the Rizal PPO in Taytay, Rizal.
“Mahigpit nating ipinatutupad ang One Strike Policy ng Philippine National Police (PNP). Hindi natin kukunsintihin ang anumang uri ng ilegal na sugal sa lalawigan ng Rizal. Ang sinumang mapapatunayang sangkot o magpapabaya sa kanilang tungkulin ay mananagot sa ilalim ng umiiral na mga patakaran (NAPOLCOM MC 2016-002) (We strictly enforce the One Strike Policy of the Philippine National Police. We will not tolerate any form of illegal gambling in the province of Rizal. Anyone found involved or negligent in their duties will be held accountable under existing regulations)," Barber said.
"Magsasagawa ang Rizal PPO ng mas pinaigting na monitoring at validation operations upang matiyak ang agarang pagtugon sa mga ulat ng ilegal na aktibidad. Inatasan na rin ang 14 na hepe ng pulisya sa Lalawigan ng Rizal na magsumite ng agarang resulta ng kanilang operasyon at beripikasyon (The Rizal PPO will conduct more intensified monitoring and validation operations to ensure prompt response to reports of illegal activities. The 14 police chiefs in Rizal Province have also been directed to submit immediate results of their operations and verifications)," he added.
The official noted that the police force is strictly monitoring the illegal gambling situation in the whole province as well as its continuous coordination with local government units (LGUs) and communities to curb criminality in Rizal.
“Mahigpit nating mino-monitor ang sitwasyon sa buong lalawigan. Inatasan ko ang lahat ng hepe ng pulisya na magsagawa ng agarang aksyon upang makapagbigay ng mabilis at kongkretong resulta laban sa ilegal na sugal. Ang Rizal PPO ay nananatiling matatag sa pagpapatupad ng batas at sa pagpapanatili ng kaayusan at kapayapaan sa ating mga komunidad (We are closely monitoring the situation throughout the province. I have directed all police chiefs to take immediate action to provide quick and concrete results against illegal gambling. The Rizal PPO remains steadfast in enforcing the law and maintaining order and peace in our communities)," the director stressed.
