Review: The nubia V80 Max is an affordable and reliable option

One of the things I have come to realize is that, in consumer tech, products are designed for specific clients; thus, the question “Who was this built for?” This was my approach when reviewing the Nubia V80 Max.
The nubia V80 Max has styled itself as an affordable and reliable phone that can keep up with life’s daily challenges, and as Filipinos, we definitely see a lot of those. From the challenges of the daily commute to the extreme weather changes. Which is why the nubia V80 Max comes in handy, with IP64 dust and water resistance. The TUV drop resistance also ensures that the phone can withstand drops. Something hard to avoid in our chaotic, fast-paced lives.
I was actually impressed with the phone’s design; it is sleek, with a large screen, but not bulky, so it's not heavy in the hand. The 6.9-inch screen with a high-res display and up to 780 nits makes for a good phone for binge-watching. The refresh rate is 120 Hz, which makes for smooth scrolling through apps. I got to try the phone in Stellar Silver, and it looks great and would surely pop in mirror selfies. The phone also comes with a nice, clear case for a better grip and added protection.
Speaking of selfies, you probably know that capturing high-quality photos is important to me, and I feel the phone doesn’t come up to par with what I’m used to. The 50 MP camera captures decent enough photos. The Dual Camera video feature is fun and may be useful for content creators who take a lot of video.

Given the rise in RAM and storage prices, and the expected increase in mobile phone prices, the nubia V80 Max offers a lot for its P5,636.00 price (on Shopee, after vouchers). It won’t be easy to find phones at that price in the next few months.
The 6000mAh battery is not bad, and AI Night Charging, Bypass Charging, and 10W reverse charging can help you manage your battery life better. Storage is also pretty impressive, up to 256GB and up to 20GB dynamic RAM for files and app-related requirements.
The V80 Max also has some useful AI features, such as AI Scam Alert, which helps screen unknown calls and SMS. This is a helpful feature, especially for our parents and the elderly, who are often victims of fraudulent activities.
Other AI features that have been useful: AI Transcript for interview recordings. AI Notepad for summarizing notes, because I take a lot of them. And for those who love to travel? The AI Live Translator is right there. There are a number of other AI features, but these ones were noteworthy for me. Not band for a phone under P6,000.00, eh?
