Metrobank debuts Toyota Platinum card targeting auto ownership costs
Mel Samson, Metrobank Head of Credit Card Products and Segment Strategy introduces Metrobank’s new Toyota Platinum Card, designed for Filipino motorists with three percent fuel and toll rebates, up to 10 percent off on Toyota parts and services, zero percent installment on repairs, and rewards that make everyday mobility more rewarding.
Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) and Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. have launched a co-branded Mastercard credit card aimed at lowering the total cost of ownership for Filipino motorists amid rising fuel and maintenance expenses.
The Toyota Platinum Card, unveiled in partnership with Mastercard Inc., provides a three percent rebate on fuel and toll transactions both locally and abroad, capped at ₱15,000 annually. The move comes as the local automotive industry continues its recovery, with manufacturers and lenders looking for ways to capture a larger share of the mobility market by integrating financial services into the vehicle ownership cycle.
Ramon del Rosario, Metrobank head of consumer business, said the card was developed to address the recurring financial responsibilities that follow the initial purchase of a vehicle.
Owning a car is a significant milestone for Filipinos, but it comes with daily costs, del Rosario said, noting that the product is intended to help customers make smarter financial choices by lightening the load on essential driving expenses.
The collaboration signals an effort by Toyota, the perennial market leader in Philippine automotive sales, to expand its footprint into the “value chain” of its customers' lives.
Mike Masamayor, Toyota Motor Philippines head for customer first and value chain operations, said the company’s responsibility extends beyond manufacturing.
Toyota aims to improve the overall ownership experience and create value that supports customers in their daily routines, Masamayor said.
Beyond driving-related rebates, the card offers specific incentives for Toyota owners, including a 10 percent discount on genuine parts, accessories, and labor at authorized dealerships nationwide. Cardholders can also avail themselves of zero percent installment plans for up to six months on dealer transactions and earn double reward points at preferred outlets. For those using the manufacturer’s newer service offerings, the card provides a five percent discount on Toyota Mobility rental services within the Philippines.
The rewards program is structured to award one point for every ₱20 spent, a competitive rate in the local premium card segment.
Mastercard’s involvement ensures the card is accepted across its global network, catering to motorists who also travel internationally.
Jason Crasto, Mastercard country manager for the Philippines, said the partnership is focused on making movement more inclusive and secure, ensuring more Filipinos can travel with confidence.
Current holders of the Toyota Classic card are eligible to upgrade to the Platinum tier.
New applicants can process their requests through Metrobank’s digital channels or physical branches as the lender seeks to grow its credit portfolio in the high-value motoring sector.
