A total of 46 beneficiaries, 39 senior citizens and seven PWDs, were given the chance to work through the efforts of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Manila.
The beneficiaries will be assigned to various branches of Shakey’s and other food chains under Jollibee Foods Corporation, according to the city government.
Domagoso said the initiative reflects Manila’s commitment to ensuring that all residents are given equal opportunities regardless of gender, social status, or background.
“Katulad ng lagi kong sinasabi, habang kayo ay nasa Maynila, walang bakla, walang tomboy, walang babae, walang lalaki, walang mahirap, walang middle-class, walang mayaman. Lahat pantay-pantay sa mata ng pamahalaan (As I always say, in Manila there are no distinctions, no gay, no lesbian, no woman, no man, no poor, no middle class, no rich. Everyone is equal in the eyes of the government),” the mayor said.
The mayor personally encouraged the new employees as they embark on their jobs, noting that the city government continues to create programs that open doors for sectors that are often overlooked in employment.
The initiative forms part of the Manila city government’s continuing efforts to expand job opportunities, address the minimum basic needs of residents, and improve the quality of life of every Batang Maynila.
The employment program is implemented through the Manila PESO, which regularly partners with private companies to provide job opportunities to qualified applicants from various sectors in the city.
