Assumption Antipolo: Where nature nurtures learning
The Peace Garden
In an age of stress and cognitive overload, shouldn’t your children’s school be a place that helps them breathe and thrive as they learn?
Studies show that nature in educational settings increases overall wellbeing by reducing stress and relieving cognitive overload (Vella-Brodrick & Gilowska, 2022).
Green spaces or nature-based environments promote creativity in children through imaginative play (Prins et al., 2022). This happens when they interact with nature, like using twigs and leaves for a pretend barbecue cookout.
When children explore their environment, risk-taking, discovery, and their sense of wonder are tapped (Lomax, et al., 2024). This strengthens the sense of self – their identity, beliefs, and motivations.
For both young and older children, extending learning outdoors, frequent nature walks, playgrounds in gardens instead of playrooms, or even extensive views of the outdoors from the classroom help sustain attention and improve memory.
Assumption Antipolo is a school for girls that offers 14 hectares of green learning space. With trees and gardens in between and around classrooms, children are relaxed, more receptive to learning, and become their best selves.
